Flexibility and jointing

HDPE is flexible and joined by fusion (butt or electrofusion), giving continuous leak-free lines ideal for long buried mains. PVC is rigid and joined by solvent or rubber-ring, which suits many plumbing and distribution applications.

Where HDPE wins

For long-distance water mains, uneven terrain, and locations where fully welded joints matter, HDPE is often preferred because it handles ground movement and has few joints.

Where PVC wins

For standard building plumbing, distribution and cost-sensitive cold-water lines, PVC/UPVC is convenient, economical and quick to install with widely available fittings.

Choosing

It comes down to the application, jointing preference and pressure requirement. Share your project details and we'll recommend the pipe, grade and fittings, and quote against your BOQ.
