A practical guide from the team at Puranmal Sons & Ceramix Syndicate.
Wet floors are slippery, and a polished tile that looks great in a living room can be unsafe in a bathroom or on a balcony. Anti-skid (anti-slip) tiles have a textured or matt surface that gives grip even when wet.
Slip resistance is often described by ratings such as R9 to R13 — the higher the number, the more grip. Bathrooms and wet areas typically use higher-grip tiles than dry indoor floors.
Use anti-skid tiles on bathroom floors, balconies, terraces, around pools, and at entrances where water is tracked in. Pair them with polished tiles elsewhere for looks where grip isn't critical.
Balance grip and cleaning — very rough surfaces grip well but need more cleaning. We can recommend anti-skid options that suit each wet area in your project.
