A practical guide from the team at Puranmal Sons & Ceramix Syndicate.
Manhole and chamber covers are commonly made of FRP (Fibre Reinforced Plastic) or RCC (Reinforced Cement Concrete). Each has clear pros for different situations.
FRP covers are light, corrosion-free and have no scrap value, so they resist theft. They come in load classes for different traffic and are easy to handle and install.
RCC covers are heavy, economical and strong for their cost, but can crack over time and are heavier to lift. They're widely used where budget is the priority.
Both come in load ratings for pedestrian, light-vehicle or heavy-vehicle areas. Match the class to the location. We supply FRP covers (KK Koncrete, Wallmont, HP Composites) and can advise on the right class.
