What SWR means

SWR stands for Soil, Waste and Rain — the PVC piping system that carries drainage away from a building. It's the standard above-ground drainage system in Indian homes and buildings, using rigid PVC pipes and push-fit or solvent fittings.

Common sizes

Typical SWR sizes are 75 mm and 110 mm for soil and waste stacks, with 75 mm often used for waste lines and 110 mm for soil (WC) lines. Smaller 40–50 mm pipes handle individual fixture wastes.

Single vs double stack

A single-stack system combines soil and waste in one stack and suits smaller buildings; a double-stack (two-pipe) system separates them and is used where more fixtures or taller buildings demand it. Your plumber or consultant will specify based on the building.

Planning tips

Maintain correct slopes, provide vents to prevent trap seal loss, and use the right fittings at junctions. Share your drainage layout or BOQ and we'll help you list the correct SWR pipes and fittings.
